Hamilton 4992B Watch Repair
Repair Service of a 1942 16S 22 Jewel Hamilton 4992B with converted 12-hour dial
This 1942 Hamilton 4992B watch was rescued from a church rummage sale for a very reasonable price. The hands were off the dial and some parts broke on the inside from a possible fall. After the war, many of these watches were converted from the 24-hour dials to the traditional 12-hour numeral dial. Parts have to be changed on the inside to make the watch run from 24 hours to 12. After the war, Hamilton supplied the parts for these conversions because there was a surplus of the 24-hour dialed watches. To find one of these conversions today is rare. This watch was disassembled and cleaned. Reassembled and lubricated. Repaired broke setting mechanism. Installed new pallet fork. Adjusted escapement. Installed new bridge screw. Installed new hack spring. Placed on extended testing. Repair Complete.
