Bulova Watch disassembled and ready to be cleaned. Each gear is hand cleaned and each jewel is hand pegged.

After cleaning and lubrication of a vintage watch, they can sometimes run fast due to everything now cleaned and oiled. In this case, the watch was gaining over five minutes. In order to bring the watch into proper time, tiny washers were installed on both sides of the balance wheel. This picture shows how small one of these washers is and how carefully they need to be handled on the delicate balance wheel. Here the hairspring has been removed so the balance can be poised before reassembling into the watch.
