Dial Repair Service
Overhaul Service of a 1915 Illinois, Grade 304, Model 7, 16s size, Pocket Watch
Occasionally, a pocket watch comes in for service, and the dial has some damage. Although the enamel cannot be repaired to its original condition, it can, however, be made to look much better. Using a white wax-type substance, the wax is melted into the damaged area and smoothed out. This is not a permanent repair, but it is a suitable alternative to changing the dial. This way the original dial stays with the watch. This Illinois had some damage around the subdial, and the seconds hand was missing. The repair was made. Also, the pocket watch was overhauled. It was fully disassembled and cleaned. Reassembled and properly lubricated. New mainspring installed. Placed on extended testing. The watch overhaul service is complete.
